A trio of Hearts youngsters started for Scotland U17s last night in their UEFA Elite Round qualification defeat to Portugal.
Conor Smith captained the side with his Jambos teammates Aaron Hickey and Cammy Logan also handed places in the starting line up.
The young Scots went down 2-0 in Paisley thanks to first half goals from Gerson and Fabio Silva.
They continue their campaign on Saturday with a match against Russia at 4pm in Paisley.
Meanwhile, Harry Cochrane’s Scotland U19s got off to a winning start in the UEFA Elite Round qualification group in Portugal.
Billy Stark’s side ran out 3-1 winners over Turkey with Zak Rudden, Robbie Deas and Jack Burroughs getting on the scoresheet, while Harry was an unused substitute.
He’ll be hoping for game time when the U19s are back in action on Saturday as Scotland resume their campaign against Cyprus.
