Hearts Women produced a five star performance against Boroughmuir Thistle in yesterday's SWPL Cup fixture at Oriam.
The hosts started brightly as Lisa Swanson picked up the ball in the 12th minute on the edge of the Thistle box after the ball fizzed around the area before she got her head up and chipped it over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
The second came from Siobhan Higgins after 25 minutes as she picked up the ball in the opposition 18-yard-box and fired it past the Thistle goalkeeper. On the stroke of half time, Hearts put the game to bed as Jenny Smith rifled it into the roof of the net from almost twenty yards out.
The second half started as the first half finished. Five minutes after the restart, Higgins got her second of the night after a fantastic ball was played over the top, she took a touch forward with her head, one back inside and thundered it into the top corner. Boroughmuir however looked to get back into the game that meant Parker-Smith had to make a couple of very decent saves.
However, Higgins wasn’t finished and, after the Thistle keeper made a couple of fantastic saves in quick succession; it fell kindly to the forward in the 69th minute who only had to pass it into the back of the net and get her hattrick and end the game with a win for the home side.
Thistle did manage to get a goal back in the final five minutes due to a miscommunication between Parker-Smith and her defence but it was merely a consolation.
