Hearts Legends triumph over Royal Navy

7th May 2015

Club legends brush aside Royal Navy in first of club's events with HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Hearts Legends gave the Navy a royal going over at Tynecastle yesterday in the first of the club’s planned events with HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Earlier in the season the Jam Tarts announced an official partnership with HMS Queen Elizabeth and last night a team from the Rosyth-based Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier took to the hallowed turf to tackle the legends side.

The Jambos’ stars of the past – including Henry Smith, Scott Severin, Paul Ritchie, John Robertson, Jimmy Sandison and Scott Crabbe – ran out comfortable winners in front of an enthusiastic crowd, featuring the ship’s crew, family and friends.

A fun-filled evening was topped off when club owner Ann Budge presented a trophy and medals - kindly donated by HMS Queen Elizabeth - to Sandison, amidst much banter from Lieutenant Commander H E Montgomery, Regulating Petty Officer Stuart Campbell and the players of both teams.

Keep an eye out for news of future events.
