Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has taken a 24-man squad to Chester for the Jambos' pre-season training camp.

Included in the travelling party which left Riccarton early this morning is trialist Lee Currie, who will be hoping to get a chance to impress in friendlies against Ludogorets Razgrad and Dinamo Bucharest over the next four days.

New signings Neil Alexander, Morgaro Gomis, James Keatings, Soufian El Hassnaoui and Alim Ozturk all make the trip south, too, with youngsters Liam Henderson, Angus Beith and Liam Smith also in the pool.

The matches will give Robbie the first chance to see his new-look squad in match action, the players having been working hard on the training ground since their return to the Academy.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing the boys in action," said Robbie. "We are facing top opposition so it will be a good work-out for the squad.

"Some of the young boys will get a chance on the trip and this is a good start to our series of pre-season friendlies."

The first match against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad kicks off tonight at 7.30pm at the Leigh Sports Village Pavilion.
