Hearts 1-2 Aberdeen | Dons snatch win at Oriam | U18s

8th April 2022

Aberdeen scored two second half goals to come from behind and defeat the Wee Jambos in league action at Oriam - in a match where VAR technology was trialed.

Makenzie Kirk marked his recent debut for the first team by handing Hearts the lead after 13 minutes - converting flawessly from the spot following an Aberdeen handball.

Hearts couldn't quite build on this promising start - and saw the first half degrade into a scrappy battle as the two sides wrestled for control. The Dons arguably shaded it in terms of chances, and could feel unlucky after seeing Alife Stewart and Liam Harvey go close with chances - Liam McFarlane producing a number of good saves for the JTs

The second half started on a positive note - Bobby McLuckie and Macaulay Tait going close as the Wee Jambos pushed to extend their lead.

Aberdeen were soon rewarded for their persistence; Alfie Stewart pulled the Dons back to level terms after 69 minutes, finishing from close range in the box after a goalmouth scramble.

Adam Emslie finished things off on 78 minutes - capitalising on a Hearts error to squeeze the ball past McFarlane once more from close range.
