Craig Halkett knows Hearts have had a good season so far but he believes the job is only half done.
The Jambos romped to third in the cinch Premiership, clinching it – and European football – by defeating city rivals Hibs 3-1 last week.
And as the two teams prepare to lock horns again this weekend, with a Scottish Cup final berth at stake, the imperious defender knows that a maroon victory could set the Jam Tarts up for a truly glorious campaign.
Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s Hampden clash, the recent Scotland call up said: “The league was great, it was fantastic that we secured third but it’s only a part of the job that the players want to do this year.
“We spoke at the start of the season about goals; trying to finish in European positions and trying to get to semi-finals and finals. We’ve managed to get to a semi-final now so it’s really important to go that next one and get to the Scottish Cup final.
“When you sign for a club like Hearts you know that they’re a big club in this country. They should be up challenging for European positions, semi-finals and finals.
“For us to have done the first part and secure third is great but we all know that we’ve got a massive couple of weeks of the season left. It can go from a good season to a very, very good one.”
