Gomis the great

20th June 2014

Morgaro Gomis wants to lead by example in his first season at Tynecastle.

New signing Morgaro Gomis hopes he can be a shining example to his young Hearts team-mates.

The cultured midfielder became Head Coach Robbie Neilson's first signing of the summer last week and he's eager to repay the faith shown in him.

Speaking to HeartsTV, Morgaro said: "I spoke to the manager and he told me what he wants me to do in the club, like looking after the players, so it's a big responsibility but I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I can show a good example to them. I don't feel old at all, I still feel young!

"It's a great challenge. I'm going to do my best for them and I hope they young boys can learn from me."

Morgaro will be welcomed by a familiar face in Director of Football Craig Levein, who signed him for for Dundee United back in 2006, and the Senegal cap insists signing on at Tynecastle was a no-brainer.

"It wasn't a hard decision to make to come here," he said. "When I spoke to the manager and Craig Levein, I went home and I knew I was going to sign. I spoke to my family and a few people but inside my head, I knew that I was going to come here.

"It feels great to be here. I really can't wait to be here. We start pre-season on Thursday so I'm looking forward to meeting all of the players, coaching staff and the manager. Hopefully it should be a great season for us."

Morgaro's interview is available to watch in full on HeartsTV.
