Gino: Crowd crucial

26th November 2021

Josh Ginnelly says home advantage is crucial on Saturday as Hearts aim to get back to winning ways when St Mirren come to town.

Another huge Tynecastle crowd is anticipated for the visit of Jim Goodwin’s Buddies and the Jambos’ forward knows just how important that backing will be.

The forward insists he and his teammates have already put the disappointment of last week’s Motherwell defeat behind them and they are desperate to go out and bag three points on Saturday.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Josh said: “Obviously it was disappointing, the way that we played. It is what it is. It hurt us a lot.

“We’ve had a look at it and we’ve watched back what we could’ve done better. It’s gone now, it’s not something to dwell on.

“We’ve lost two games all season so, for me and the boys, it’s about getting it right on Saturday.

“With us being at home it’s a great advantage. We’ve seen the crowd make a lot of noise and push us on a bit. We’ve just got to rectify it on Saturday.

“It’s a massive factor. Every game is different. We can’t just go full out straight away because we might concede but we’ll play our game, of course.

“With us being at home with the crowd, that helps. It’s intimidating for the other team to come out to that where they’ve not got many fans compared to us. It’s a big factor but we’re the ones on the pitch who have to perform.”
