Hearts’ new goalkeeping coach Paul Gallacher has revealed his mind was made-up about joining the Jambos the minute he got the call from Head Coach Robbie Neilson.
The 36-year old goalkeeper has penned a two-year player/coach deal with the Jambos, where he will primarily fulfill a goalkeeping coach role, in addition to being registered as a player for the upcoming season.
The experienced shot-stopper, who has seven Scotland caps to his name, joins Hearts following the expiration of his contract at Partick Thistle. Speaking to Hearts News, he said:
“I got a phone call from Robbie and after speaking to him I was really excited about the prospect of joining such a massive club.
“The club’s thriving and the team is in Europe, so it was a no-brainer really and an offer that I couldn’t turn down.
“The fact that it’s a player-coach role made it very appealing. I know they’re looking to bring someone else in as well but I’ll keep myself fit and be ready if they need me.
“First and foremost I’m passionate about working with the goalkeepers here and improving them, from academy level up to the first team.”
