Fighting spirit

22nd September 2017

Christophe Berra wants Hearts to continue to show their fighting spirit in tomorrow's game at Partick Thistle.

Christophe Berra wants his Hearts side to continue to show the doggedness and determination that saw them win three points against Hamilton last week when they face Partick Thistle tomorrow.

The Jambos head to the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill on Ladbrokes Premiership duty and the skipper is expecting another tough encounter against a side looking for their first victory of the campaign.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Christophe said: “We just take it a game at a time, like at Hamilton we knew it was going to be a tough game, especially on that astro-turf which is very difficult to play on.

“Partick will be the same. It’s an away venue, it’s going to be tough, we’re going to have to dig in at times and ride our luck.

“I watched their game the other night against Rangers and they’re a team who play good football.

“They’ve got good attacking options and they were unlucky not to get something. It’s going to be a very tough game, like any away game is just now.

“I don’t think they’ve got a win yet so they’ll be all guns blazing and trying to turn those good performances into wins.

“Hopefully our quality will shine through.”

Backed by another sizeable travelling support, the Jambos will be looking to continue their impressive form since Craig Levein took over the manager’s role, and Christophe believes that with time his side will only get better.

“We’ve got a good set of players and good characters,” he said. “We all work hard and the manager has got us well drilled.

“Obviously he’s still got a lot of time to work with us and put his methods and his theories and his tactics into us.

“We’re trying the best we can at the moment but like I said, we’re game by game at the moment and hopefully we can go to Partick and get something from there.

“We sold out our allocation again so it’s great support from the supporters.

“Every little helps and with them cheering us on, especially as you saw in the last game against Hamilton, it gives us that extra motivation.”

Christophe’s press conference is available to watch in full now on HeartsTV.
