Dundee Reaction: Robbie Neilson

18th December 2021

Robbie Neilson has hailed his impact subs for helping to get Hearts a deserved three points in Dundee.

The Jambos dominated proceedings at Dens Park but were made to wait until the 76th minute for the breakthrough.

Aaron McEneff’s deflected shot hit the post and Jamie Walker was there to slam home the rebound.

The manager praised the duo for showing patience and making their mark when the time came.

"We're delighted to get the three points,” he said. “It's always a tough place to come and Dundee, although they had a number of injuries, put out an experienced team.

“Although we controlled a lot of the game, we didn't create many clear-cut chances - but the one we did we took.

“We brought Jamie on because he's got that quality in the final moment and, especially in the second half, we pinned them in a bit in really good areas and we need somebody with that wee bit of magic. Thankfully he produced it.

"Jamie has found it hard to get in because the players that have been in those positions have been playing really, really well. He's just had to bide his time. I thought him and Aaron McEneff did well when they came on.
