Don targets winning run

19th August 2016

Hearts are desperate to get back to winning ways against Inverness, insists Don Cowie.

Don Cowie believes a win over Inverness CT on Saturday could kick-start a winning run for the Jambos.

The former Cardiff City player has featured in the heart of midfield in the first three games of the domestic season. Despite having just a point to show from their first two league encounters, however, Don is nonetheless adamant he and his teammates have what it takes to embark on a winning run.

Speaking to the media ahead of the visit of Richie Foran's side on Saturday, Don said:

“It’s been a difficult start. We’ve played the top teams from last year so far and we’re disappointed to have only come away with one point, but that’s football.

“We’ve now got a run of games where the pressure is on us to go and get the results. People expect us to win these games and the challenge is now for us to step up.

“Anyone who was at the Celtic game will have seen that we matched them for most of the game.

"And as far as the draw at Aberdeen goes, not many teams will come away from there with a clean sheet this season.

“It was important to get a point up there but we now need to get a win.

“We’ve got a good squad and we believe we can push on and improve on last season. Winning breeds confidence so we’re desperate to get a win on Saturday.

“We’re very confident as a group. There’s been some good additions to the squad, we’re getting fitter each week and I’m confident we can put a good run together over the next few weeks.”
