Hearts U20s continued their good Development League form with a 4-2 win away at Kilmarnock last night.
Lewis Moore and Euan Henderson were the goal heroes for the Wee Jambos, each grabbing braces to sink a potential Killie comeback.
A young Hearts team faced a host side that featured four overage players.
Andy Kirk’s side opened the scoring on 33 minutes through Moore’s angled shot, and then had Kelby Mason to thank for pulling off two brilliant saves.
Moore went close to adding to his tally before the half was out, and seven minutes into the restart it was 2-0, with Henderson doubling Hearts’ lead with a 20-yard drive.
With ten minutes remaining it looked like the young maroons had wrapped up all three points after Moore slotted home Aidan Keena’s pass.
Kilmarnock staged a late fightback, however, pulling two goals back through Innes Cameron.
Not to be outdone, Henderson grabbed his second and Hearts’ fourth of the game with a close-range effort to seal the points for the Wee Jambos, who cut the gap on third-placed Aberdeen to four points.
