Robbie Neilson has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s game at Tannadice and hopes to see the best of a squad of players who he insists are desperate to impress.
Captain Alim Ozturk continues to be sidelined following his recent hernia operation, whilst right-back Callum Paterson and striker Gavin Reilly miss out through suspension.
Robbie is adamant, however, that he has the squad to cope with such losses and believes it’s the perfect chance for other players to impress. Speaking to the media on Friday morning, he said:
“Ozturk’s out following his operation and we’ve also got Paterson and Reilly suspended. We’ve got a decent squad though and I don’t have any issues with putting players in.
“We’ve got players who are desperate to do well so it’s an opportunity for them to make an impact.”
Sunday’s lunch-time kick-off will also see Mixu Paatelainen take charge of the Arabs for the first time and Robbie is wary of the galvanizing effect a new manager can have on a team.
“The United boys will be desperate to impress and perform. You always get a boost when a new manager comes in. It’s a clean slate for them, so it’ll be an intriguing game.”
