Abiola Dauda was delighted to grab his first goals for the club against Ross County in midweek and believes he will only get better.
The Nigerian striker came on as a second-half substitute in Dingwall on Wednesday night and produced two exquisite finishes to help seal an impressive 3-0 win for the Jambos.
Speaking to the press post-match, he revealed he is now looking to get more game time under his belt in order to improve his match fitness.
“I’ve not played a lot of full games recently and I enjoyed the Edinburgh derby, I haven’t played at that intensity for a while. But my fitness is getting better and better.
“The fitter I get the more I can rely on my instincts, I will be sharper. The pace of the game here is good for me, it helps my fitness and suits my way of playing.”
Wednesday night’s win put third-placed Hearts 11 points clear of The Staggies and Abiola believes there is plenty to be excited about at Tynecastle.
“I had a good feeling as soon as I came here. As soon as I trained with the lads I could see the quality in the team, there are a lot of young lads here but also a lot of experience. I think the future is bright.
“Now we are 11 points clear of Ross County but we are not really looking behind, we are only looking forward.”
