Daniel Stendel was delighted with his team's performance as the Jambos recorded a convincing victory at Easter Road on Tuesday night.
Second half goals from Sean Clare, Ollie Bozanic and Conor Washington earned the Jambos an emphatic 3-1 win in Leith.
Speaking after the game, Daniel expressed his delight with his players but warned that this is just the first step in the Jambos' quest to climb the table.
"This was my first derby victory. The desire was great today. It was an open game for a long time and there weren't too many chances in the first half," he said.
"In the second half, the penalty changed the game in our favour and Hibs opened up. We used the spaces, scored three goals and it’s a great win.
"We wanted to be more compact today and we did that well. We fought for every ball and helped each other. We tried our best in every situation and we are winning games together. If we do this then we will win more games.
"We’ve learned a lot of things in recent weeks and it was good that we showed tonight that we learn from our mistakes.
"This is only one step. One game in the league, we have ten left and we need to do it again on Saturday. But this is good for our confidence and I hope we can show it again on Saturday.
"After Boxing Day, I knew it was hard for our supporters to see Hibs celebrate a win in our castle. Tonight we got our revenge."
