Daniel Stendel wants his Hearts side to make one improvement from their last outing against Aberdeen – more goals.
The Jambos put in a hugely encouraging performance against the Dons prior to the winter break, taking the lead through Ryo Meshino’s stunning 25-yard strike, only to be pegged back by Niall McGinn’s equally impressive long-range set piece.
Stendel’s men entertain Airdrieonians in the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday and with the likes of John Souttar, Steven Naismith and Conor Washington available for selection there could be changes, especially in the forward areas as the team resumes its pursuit of goals.
The manager also revealed that he will give the Diamonds the respect they deserve but, as always, his focus will be on what his team can do.
Speaking to the media today, Daniel said: “I watched some clips (of Airdrie). I said before New Year’s that we have respect for all teams we play. We prepare for all teams, we look at games, we look at clips.
“We want to keep our confidence from the last game at Aberdeen in the first game of the new year.
“It’s also a game in Tynecastle and our way is we look for us, for our performance and we keep a lot of things from the Aberdeen game.
“But we will change some little things, especially to score more goals.”
