Daniel Stendel believes Hearts’ winning start to 2020 can help his side to hit the ground running in the league, starting tonight at Ross County.
The Jambos saw off Airdrieonians on Saturday, putting five past the League One side without reply to book their spot in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Tonight’s Dingwall encounter poses a different test altogether and the manager wants his team to take that winning mentality into the Highlands and start building a run of form.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Daniel said: “It was good for us that we won the first game in the new year, in 2020. It gives us the feeling that we can start new but on the other side we all know it was the cup and not the (league) season.
“The (league) season is a different situation and we start not with zero but we start with the points that we have at the moment and with the gap to the other places.
“We want to start very similar to the cup and with a win. This is a tough game.
“The situation is not easy but we cannot talk every week after one game when we win, all is happy and when we lose ‘oh we’re relegated’.
“It’s important that we constantly play our game and we constantly get points and then I think we have every chance.
“It’s not also the games, it’s also mentality. I have the feeling that the players are really strong in the head to go on our way and this is a good feeling for me.”
