Buchanan brace helps Hearts U20s see off Whitehill Welfare to make next round of Scottish Youth Cup.

Hearts U20s beat Whitehill Welfare 3-0 on Friday night to advance through to the fourth round of the Scottish Youth Cup.

The Wee Jambos saw off their Lowland League opponents at Newtongrange thanks to a Robbie Buchanan double, with Alistair Roy scoring inbetween.

Liam Gordon earned an 18th minute penalty which Buchanan stepped up to send the ‘keeper the wrong way.

Roy doubled Hearts’ lead after half an hour with a penalty box strike, and Buchanan rounded off proceedings five minutes later.

U20s Player Development Manager Jack Ross told Hearts News:  “Overall it’s pleasing at how they went about things in the win. It’s always good to get to the next round and I think the manner of the performance was good as well.

“The players, and particularly the young players, will look forward to the draw and seeing who they get in the next round.”
