Craig Levein will take positives from today’s controversial defeat to Rangers as the Jambos enter into the busy festive period of fixtures.
Hearts took the lead at Tynecastle this afternoon through Gareth McAuley’s own goal, before being pegged back by Connor Goldson’s equaliser.
The match was decided with an offside goal, however, when Alfredo Morelos slotted home from James Tavernier’s free-kick despite being in front of the home defence.
Although irked by the decision, the manager believes that there were good points to take from his side’s performance and will look to build on it when Hearts face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday.
“We were much better than we have been,” he said. “I thought Sean Clare is getting closer to what we think he is, Arnaud Djoum was excellent again,
“Christophe - I can’t speak highly enough of him after his performance after the amount of time he has been out.
“He was excellent. We miss him and you saw today what a difference he makes.
“We had a lot of good chances and Allan McGregor was good in the first half.
“We were much better than what we have been lately and I take great encouragement from that I just wish we had got the tangible reward of getting something from the match.”
