Craig looking for repeat performance

26th February 2019

Craig Levein is looking to replicate his side's recent good form at home against Celtic when they visit Tynecastle on Wednesday night.

The Jambos won the last meeting in Gorgie 1-0 at the start of August, thanks to a superb Kyle Lafferty volley.

"Playing Celtic at any time is extremely difficult," Craig admitted. "We have a fairly good record against Celtic at home recently and I'm hoping we can continue that tomorrow. But, when they play at their best, they're very, very difficult to beat.

"The excitement and the atmosphere that comes along with these matches is great for the players and great for people in the stadium watching. I think it'll be a good atmosphere and I'm hopeful that we'll put on a good performance.

"We need to a lot of things well, we'll need to be at the top of our game. We have had recent success here against Celtic at Tynecastle so I'm hoping we can replicate that.

After two frustrating results against Motherwell and St Mirren, the manager insisted there was no need to panic.

"I don't think there's an awful lot wrong," he said. "I thought we played very well at Motherwell, things just didn't go our way. We scored an own goal to lose two points at the weekend and those things happen.

"There's things we can do better, of course. We've analysed that. We've spoken at length yesterday about where we made mistakes and things we can do better.

"I'm not overly concerned, we've just been a little bit away from what we usually do. We just need to re-focus and get back to doing the things we know work, particularly here, and doing them well."

Craig also offered an update on team news ahead of the mid-week clash.

"Demi Mitchell's season is over. It's a shame becasue he did well for us and was starting to hit a bit of form again.

"I'm not sure about Clevid [Dikamona]. He did a little bit yesterday but he got quite a nasty tackle at the weekend and his thigh was bothering him. He had a bit of a dead leg, so we'll see how he is.

"Jake [Mulraney] had a problem with his hamstring at the weekend so we'll see how he is. I'll have a better idea tomorrow, or later on today, about everybody."
