Robbie Neilson has told his players they’ll need to be able to handle the pressures of Dumbarton on Saturday if they’re to right the wrongs of the last meeting there.
The Jambos travel to Bet Butler Stadium this weekend with the previous stalemate firmly at the forefront of their minds, having been unable to break down the Sons back in September.
The head coach wants his side to maintain their consistency and bring back all three points.
Speaking to the media this morning, Robbie said: “It’s the old cliché but every game is very difficult. Especially when we go down to Dumbarton on Saturday and we’ve sold out our entire allocation so it it’ll be a full house there.
“It’s a big crowd, a big atmosphere from the usual atmosphere you get at Dumbarton so the Dumbarton players will be ready for it and will see it as a huge scalp. They’ll get that extra energy, extra belief and we have to go down there and handle that.
“Even in the first game down there where we dropped points we had two or three opportunities to score goals, didn’t take them and we got a bit lucky in the last few minutes when we were committed and they counter-attacked us.
“Looking back again, a point down at Dumbarton on a difficult day, sometimes you take it.
"Consistency is the main thing for us; consistency in training, consistency in their attitude as well, which they’ve had. We just continue to do that.
"It’s important that they come in every day and work hard. The last couple of weeks have been difficult with the weather but they’ve come in and their attitude has been fantastic. They just need to keep doing it."
Robbie hopes to be able to call upon a few familiar faces in the coming weeks, though Saturday’s game comes to early to see any returning to action.
“Osman Sow will be back on Monday, Dale Carrick too,” he revealed. “I’d like to try and get somebody else in if I can. But we’ve done fantastically well with James Keatings up-front.
“We’ve only had James and Gary Oliver’s come back from Stenhousemuir so our options up-front have been limited but we’ve still managed to get results. At the start of the season we got a lot of goals because we could start with Osman and then bring James on, bring Dale on and totally change things.
“The options have been limited but we still managed to get results.”
