Hearts sign Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Colin Doyle on a two-year deal

Goalkeeper Colin Doyle has become Hearts’ latest recruit after penning a two-year deal at Tynecastle.

The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland internationalist joins the club as a free agent, subject to international clearance, following the expiration of his contract at previous side Bradford City.

Born in Cork, the 6’5” goalie started his professional career with Birmingham City in 2003 before going out on loan to Chester City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall.

Having played 14 games for Millwall in 2005/06, Colin returned to Birmingham City the following season and featured 22 times for the first-team.

A move to Blackpool followed in 2015, where Colin established himself as The Tangerines’ No.1 and made 35 appearances.

After triggering a release clause in his contract, Bradford City signed Colin in 2016. Again, he grabbed the No.1 jersey, making a total of 88 appearances across two seasons, helping them to the League One play-off final.

Capped four times for Ireland, he played against current Hearts captain Christophe Berra in a B international back in 2007, which finished in a 1-1 draw.
