Players to wear black armbands against Celtic in League Cup tie as a mark of respect.

Heart of Midlothian FC is in mourning after the sudden death of another supporter during a match at Tynecastle.

Father-of-four Gordon Wilson took ill early in the first half of Saturday's Championship meeting with Cowdenbeath.

Attending paramedics worked tirelessly in an attempt to revive Gordon after his collapse but despite their best efforts the 43-year-old season ticket holder was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

"The club would like to pass on its most sincere condolences to Gordon's family at this extremely sad time," a spokesman said.

"Everyone at the club has been affected by the tragic events of Saturday. Coming so soon after we lost another member of the Heart of Midlothian family at the recent derby makes this all the more difficult to come to terms with."

As a mark of respect, the Hearts players will wear black armbands during tomorrow night's Scottish League Cup third-round tie against Celtic at Celtic Park.
