John Souttar declared himself delighted as Hearts made it three wins out of three with a 1-0 victory over Partick Thistle on Saturday.
Recording a third consecutive clean sheet, the Jambos defeated the Jags thanks to an Arnaud Djoum header, while Neil Alexander recorded his 14th clean sheet of the league campaign; a league best.
Souttar's four starts since joining the club in January have resulted in four wins and four clean sheets for the club. The Jambos now lie six points behind Aberdeen and ten behind leaders Celtic with ten games of the league remaining, and the defender revealed his joy after an extended spell in the team.
“I’m just delighted with the result and the past week,” said the January signing. “It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but they never are at this time of year.
“When you have three games in a week, in bad weather, and you get three wins with three clean sheets, you just can’t ask for more.”
Having won the match sponsor man of the match award for three games in a row, the Scotland U21 star admitted he feels he has already improved since joining the Gorgie side just over a month ago.
“I’m already a lot fitter and sharper than I was earlier in the season. When I came in to Riccarton, we started working on things like fitness, strength and especially my heading. I'm enjoying my football again.
"Having two men like Craig and Robbie, international defenders, guiding me is just amazing too. They were part of the appeal for me coming here.
“I’m still young, and I’m going to make mistakes, but Hearts know that and I’ve been told not to worry about that. When they had a bid accepted and I spoke to them, they showed me they had a project.
“It’s a project for me, and my development as a player. They showed me a long term plan, which excited me and it makes me want to go out every game and repay their faith in me.”
