Robbie Neilson insists he was always planning to make changes to his starting line-up at Alloa on Saturday, regardless of how the team fared against Falkirk last week.
The Jambos suffered their first Championship defeat of the season last saturday, going down 3-2 at home to the Bairns.
Robbie will now look to utilise the strength of his squad for the upcoming clash at the Indodrill Stadium as his side aim to bounce back.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Robbie said: “Changes are required. I’ve said it all along, that I pick the team that I think will win the game on the Saturday. That’s what you do.
“So there will be changes for the game at Alloa because it’s an away game, it’s a different surface, different venue, and a different team we’re playing against.
“The game last Saturday against Falkirk has got no reflection on the game coming up at Alloa.
“No matter how far ahead you are in the league or how good a team you are, any team can beat anybody on a given day. If one team doesn’t perform to the levels that they should hit, and one team performs above theirs then anything’s possible in football.
“I feel that we have to make sure that we have to concentrate on what we’re good at and try and get back to that. One game out of 21 that we didn’t quite hit the standards that we should…you’re never going to get a whole season where you win every game and play consistently well throughout every period in every game.
“The game against Falkirk doesn’t have a huge bearing on my decisions for the game against Alloa.”
The head coach doesn’t foresee any issues with playing Saturday’s tie on astro-turf, pointing to the fact that his young guns grew up playing on that kind of surface.
“We were at Spartans yesterday,” he said. “The players are used to playing on astro-turf. They know what to deal with.
“The majority of them came through the academy on the astro up there, which is similar. I don’t see it being a problem for us.”
