Cammy: Goal was a long time coming!

26th February 2022

Cammy Devlin couldn’t hide his delight, after finally bagging his first goal in maroon at the SMISA Stadium in Paisley.

Our Aussie midfielder has displayed so many good things over the course of his first season at Tynecastle: fight, tenacity, passion – it was just a goal that was missing! Today, he ended that drought: drilling home the second goal of the afternoon after 67 minutes to secure all three points against St. Mirren.

Cammy admits it’s been a long time coming but stressed that the JTs getting back to winning ways in the cinch Premiership was all that mattered.

“There were a few reasons why it wasn’t sooner,” he joked with Hearts TV.

“I was buzzing to get a goal from a personal point of view. The most important thing was getting the right result, though. We came here off the back of some poor results, so we knew we had to come here and win by any means possible.

“The boys all know that we’re a good football team. We talked a bit about how we maybe needef to go back to basics and I think we showed that we did that today.

“They dug in after their red card, and credit to us we stuck at it and now we’re going home tonight with two goals and three points.”
