Callum Paterson has revealed that he isn’t looking over his shoulder at the teams below, because he’s too busy focusing on doing the business for Hearts.
The Jambos entertain high-flying Queen of the South tomorrow at Tynecastle but right-back Callum isn’t flustered by the Doonhamers’ recent form as he’s concentrating on keeping the men in maroon at the top of the pile.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Callum said: “Queen of the South is going to be a massive game at the weekend because they’re doing really well, but we only focus on ourselves.
“Its working so far so there’s no point changing what we’re doing. We’ll just keep focusing on what training we’re doing and how we’re playing in games.
“You’ve got to be confident that this can be Hearts’ season, and we are very confident that it can be. But it’s still a long season, there’s a long way to go and you never know, you could end up losing a few games in a row and teams behind us could start winning.
“Hopefully we can carry on our form just now and be champions.”
Despite missing the start of the season through injury, Callum’s form saw him earn a full Scotland call up for the double header against Ireland and England last month. The 20-year old feels he’s fighting fit and reaching the top of his game.
“It’s great to be back to full fitness,” he said. “I was out injured at the start of the season and now it’s just getting back to the top of my game and feeling fully fit.
“I’ve developed massively. Robbie’s helping me, he’s doing a great job and I feel as if I’m playing great football.”
