Big Hearts delivers Christmas

23rd December 2020

This festive season 2020 will be a difficult time for many.

To ensure everyone’s safety and continue to be there for those who need their help, Big Hearts is going on the road this Christmas to bring some festive cheer directly to vulnerable people’s homes.

Amidst Covid-19, the charity remains committed to tackling food insecurities and acute loneliness in our local community.

In those challenging times, we’d like to recognise the outstanding efforts from our community of supporters, who decided to step in to help those most vulnerable through the Club’s charity.

Free Christmas Meals

Rising to the challenges brought by Covid-19, Big Hearts is teaming up with the Space and Broomhouse Hub to prepare and deliver Christmas dinners to vulnerable households across Edinburgh.

Over 300 adults and children will get to enjoy a free festive meal from the comfort of their homes on Christmas Day.

This new partnership has enabled Big Hearts to increase their support by 36% in comparison with last year, reaching out to many more individuals facing loneliness and poverty at this time of the year.

Gift Back Appeal

Hearts fans played a key-role in the success of Big Hearts’ second Gift Back Appeal with over 1,200 bespoke presents donated and distributed to disadvantaged young people and isolated over 65s.

The project aims to match volunteers with anonymous profiles of those who might not get any present to open on Christmas morning.

The extended Hearts’ family came together to complete 285 individual referrals in 6 weeks, with the practical support from Big Hearts volunteers, Hearts fans, Club staff and the Hearts’ first team and Women’s team players.
