Christophe Berra admits the feelgood factor is still in place after Hearts’ derby win over Hibs and hopes it plays a part in a strong start to the second half of the season.
The Jambos signed off 2018 with a 1-0 win at Easter Road and have since travelled to Spain for a winter training camp.
The skipper believes confidence is high amongst the squad as they bid to kick-off part two of the 2018/19 campaign in the same way they did back in August.
Speaking to HeartsTV in Spain, Christophe said: “Yeah, I think the feel-good factor is still evident in the camp.
"If we had got beaten there (at Easter Road) then it would be a bit doom and gloom but winning does breed confidence.
“To go there and win, which we hadn’t done for a few years, was a big ask but we enjoyed it at the time.
“Football moves on so quickly so we’ve just got to take it a game at a time. Our next game is against Livingston and that’s what our focus will be on.
“We want to start afresh. We want to start the second half of the season as we did the first.
“Football is funny; its swings and roundabouts and highs and lows. We had a really good high and we had a bit of a dip but we picked up again.
“Hopefully we can continue where we finished off and start the second half of the season strongly and put us in a good position to finish as high up the table as possible, and hopefully maybe get some silverware or get to a final, and definitely get into Europe.”
