Andrew McKinlay wants to help Hearts return to the Premiership at the first time of asking and then focus on restoring the club as Scotland’s third force.

The club’s new Chief Executive started his role this week after being appointed by owner and Chairman Ann Budge.

Formerly Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO at the Scottish FA, Andrew has a wealth of experience in the running of the Scottish game and he hopes to put that to good use at Tynecastle.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Hearts TV, he said: “I know how big and important this club is. To have the opportunity to come here as a Chief Executive is just a real privilege and I can’t wait to get stuck into things.

“I spent six years at the Scottish FA and one of the main things I hope will be helpful from a Hearts perspective is that I know how the SFA works, how the SPFL works and I know the main people involved in those organisations.

“Success for us this season is to get back up to the Premiership. We know it will be a difficult division this season but we need to make sure we come back up and everyone in the club will be working towards that goal.

“During my lifetime, I’ve always viewed Hearts as the third team in Scotland and I want to make sure we get ourselves back in that position.

“We’re seeing big changes in the football landscape, particularly at European level, and I want to make sure that when the time comes, we’re at the table and best positioned to make sure we can take advantage of the huge opportunities I think we’ll see in the next decade or so."
