Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Ross County
Saturday 30th April 2022, KO 15:00 | cinch Premiership | Tynecastle Park
Hearts and Ross County played out a goalless draw in a competitive encounter at Tynecastle Park.
Despite numerous second half chances for the men in maroon, the deadlock wasn't to be broken as they made it ten matches unbeaten.
There was one change from the side that was victorious last weekend against Dundee United with Ben Woodburn replacing Aaron McEneff.
The Jambos initially started well with Josh Ginnelly looking sharp down the right. The forward's pace was causing issues with his direct approach, and a booking was soon drawn from Ross Callachan for a crude foul on him.
Just prior to that booking, we had the first shot on target as Connor Randall tested Craig Gordon from range with the Hearts skipper pulling out a fine diving save.
The first Jambos effort on target arrived via Woodburn after he made space at the edge of the area but his shot lacked power and was comfortably saved.
County had the ball in the net just after the half hour when Jordan White stuck out a leg to divert home a wayward shot, but the assistant referee flagged for offside.
Just prior to the break, Peter Haring found Barrie McKay 25 yards out but his powerful effort flew over the bar although there did appear to be a deflection.
There was a huge chance for an opener just after the interval when Woodburn played a lovely reverse pass for Nathaniel Atkinson who cut it back for Ginnelly on the edge of the area but Gino fired well over.
Taylor Moore was next to try his luck as he met a McKay corner in the box but his header down to the keeper's left was held.
Robbie Neilson then introduced Ellis Simms and Andy Halliday to the field to add an extra spark with Simms making an immediate impact as a focal point.
And moments later there was a massive opportunity as McKay burst through the middle with a three on two break. Simms was to his left but he played in Liam Boyce whose shot was saved by Ross Laidlaw.
On 81 minutes it was even closer as Halliday fed McKay who cut onto his right foot inside the area but his shot hit the side netting.
As we entered the two minutes of added time, Halliday drove at the County area and slid in Boyce who curled his shot agonisingly wide of the post as the Jambos had to settle for the point.
