Match Report

Hearts came up short against Hamilton in a seven-goal Reserve Cup thriller at the Fountain of Youth Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The hosts clinched the win by 4 goals to 3, with Aidan Keena netting a hat-trick for the Jambos - all three goals coming from the penalty spot.

The Lanarkshire side took the lead on 10 minutes when Andy Winter fired a shot past Silva in the Hearts goal. Seven minutes later, Hearts were awarded a penalty kick and Keena duly levelled the scores from 12 yards.

Within five minutes, Hearts had turned the tie on its head as Keena slotted home the second penalty of the day. The lead lasted less than 15 minutes, however, as Charlie Reilly's cross enabled Adrian Beck to level.

Within 10 minutes of the restart, Accies found themselves ahead courtesy of Jack Breen. It was to be a fruitful few minutes for the home side as they added a third shortly after thanks to a 30-yard Beck free-kick.

The Jambos did pull one back with five minutes to go as Keena sealed his hat-trick but the hosts eventually emerged victorious.
