Match Report

The wee Jambos picked up their fourth consecutive 3-1 win, this time in the road as they beat Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.

In truth, the scoreline was not an accurate reflection of a pretty poor game but ultimately, Andy Kirk's side were clinical when they needed to be.

The first half-an-hour was devoid of clear-cut chances and it was in fact the hosts who went closest with a Callum Semple header.

The Jambos responded with a hat-trick of Cammy Logan chances - the best of which saw him slot his shot underneath Jack Leighfield, only to be ruled out by the linesman's flag.

Queens' had one more chance before the break when Chris Newbound got his head on the end of a free-kick, but his effort could only find the side-netting.

Into the second-half and Arron Darge almost got Hearts off to a good start when he collected a rebound from a corner, but his low shot was saved by the feet of Leighfield.

The Jambos eventually found the breakthrough, hitting a double in two minutes through Lewis Moore and Cammy Logan. Connor Smith took a fantastic touch round his defender before squaring for Moore to finish for the first.

Logan made up for his missed chances by scoring a superb second. The right-back made a good run forward, cutting inside before playing a one-two with Rory Currie. Getting the ball back, he got it out of his feet to slot home.

It looked like the Jambos would stroll home when Leeroy Makovora was played in by Leo Watson and finished well - but again the linesman had his flag up.

It was almost costly as Queens' went up the pitch and scored to make the final few minutes interesting. Alberto Vezza cut in from the right and crossed, and Jack Hamilton got a toe to it to poke past Mason.

However, the Jambos wrapped things up in the final seconds. Smith took the ball out wide and whipped a cross right onto the forehead of Currie, who powered a header past the keeper.
