Match Report

Hearts ran out 2-1 winners as John Rankin's side welcomed back Jay Sandison from long-term injury.

The Wee Jambos made the best possible start, scoring after two minutes. Leeroy Makovora picked up the ball out wide and fired a brilliant cross into the box that was headed in by Kieran Mitchell.

Makovora was causing all sorts of problems and was the next on the scoresheet. This time, Mitchell was the provider, crossing for Makovora to head in at the back post.

The tide started to turn slightly when Hearts were awarded a penalty, only to have the inital decision over-ruled by the linesman.

Harry Stone then made a great save to deny the Saints, but with one minute left to play they got a goal back thanks to a defensive error.

Ryan Schiavone hit the post late on as the Jambos tried to double the lead once more, but the score ended 2-1.
