Digital Skills

Hearts' Coding Club

The perfect way to introduce young people to technology!

We are now taking registrations for the upcoming six-week CoderDojo Introductory Club, running weekly from Thursday 28th February to Thursday 4th April at Tynecastle Park.

The CoderDojo Coding Club aims to build excitement and interest around digital technology among young people and support them in developing valuable skills for the future.

All equipment is provided, instructions will be easy-to-follow and no previous experience is necessary! The Club is completely FREE for girls and boys aged 7-16 years.

Young people can be registered through EventBrite HERE.

Coding and digital skills are vital skills in today’s world, and computers are an ever more important part of life and work. Understanding how computers work and the best ways to interact with them will open up lots of opportunities for young people!

Young people attending the club will explore digital technology in a fun, informal, creative and social environment while developing problem solving, communication and presentation skills. Using code, attendees will design games, build wearable technology, make music and even build goal-line technology! Attendees will take their creative ideas, turn them into reality and share them with friends!

We are currently recruiting volunteers to become mentors at the Coding Club. If you are interested in technology and inspiring the next generation of digital creators, we will be pleased to hear from you.

As part of the Digital Skills Hub, Hearts will shortly launch a Digital Careers Club aimed at providing more vocational skills and insight into the world of study and employment for those preparing for life after school. Further information on this exciting new venture will follow shortly.
