  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Attractive staff benefits

  • Full time (40 hours per week) which includes evenings and weekends depending on the business requirements.

  • Tynecastle Park Stadium, Myreside Pavilion & Turnhouse Golf Club

Start Date

  • As soon as possible

Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club and an Edinburgh institution with a proud heritage dating back to 1874.  The Club is currently undergoing a remarkable transformation within a redeveloped stadium hosting new conference and banqueting facilities and it is more than just a Football Club.  The stadium currently accommodates over 1,200 hospitality guests across a range of modern suites with additional new and exciting facilities still to come.

The Club’s award-winning in-house catering arm, Tynecastle Events, is expanding to meet an unprecedented growth in both match day hospitality and in non-match day events.  Tynecastle Events has achieved success in building new operations in both Myreside Pavilion and at Turnhouse Golf Club.

This has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious individual to take up a new senior post reporting directly to the Head of Hospitality and Catering and managing delivery across multiple sites. You will be responsible for the performance of teams including chefs, front of house staff and bar staff and will be responsible for a team of supervisors dedicated to each function.

This senior role will suit someone with a proven successful track record in hospitality management of a multi-site operation.  It requires a combination of inspiring leadership as well as strong management skills. Experience of working in sport would be advantageous, but not essential.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join an award-winning catering and hospitality operation at a very exciting time for the club.  The transformation of facilities at Heart of Midlothian has changed the landscape of conference and banqueting in Edinburgh and has put Tynecastle Park firmly on the map as the venue of choice for major conferences, exhibitions and formal dinners as well as private events, weddings, parties and smaller family occasions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • work directly for the Head of Catering and Hospitality to manage the smooth running of the day to day operation across multiple sites.
  • provide management, motivation and support to a growing hospitality team which includes duty managers, supervisors, chefs and casual waiting and bar staff.
  • drive the operation and support the growth of income streams through match-day operations and conference and banqueting events.
  • work closely with the Head of Catering and Hospitality in the areas of recruitment and selection, training and delivery schedules as per the requirements of the team and in line with licensing and food hygiene legal compliance requirements.
  • achieve and maintain operational excellence by providing a culture of high customer service standards in food and drink to build upon the first-class reputation achieved to date.
  • plan and optimise appropriate staffing levels for the multi-site venues including venue management cover in line with the needs of the business requirements.
  • work closely with the Events Sales Co-ordinator on the requirements of the functions each week to ensure the Client’s needs are met and exceeded through excellent operational customer service delivery.
  • work closely with the Head of Catering and Hospitality to set a yearly budget and staff KPI’s in line with the business strategy for the operation and then ensure that teams meet those KPIs.
  • work closely with marketing and sales in the creation and execution of campaigns.

The successful candidate will:

  • offer a proven track record of running a similar fast-paced, high volume operation.
  • have a minimum of 5 years management experience within a similar scale and nature of operation. Experience within a sports environment is desirable but not essential.
  • ideally be educated to degree level.  This is not essential, however, as demonstrable success in a similar operation will also rate highly.
  • hold a personal licence qualification (SCPLH) (essential).
  • be passionate about food and drink and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent customer service to enhance the customer experience.
  • be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and lead others, providing guidance and quality assurance.
  • have strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • be computer literate in Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and competent in running basic AV facilities.
  • be able to demonstrate strong financial acumen.
  • be mobile to work across 3 sites in Edinburgh.
  • above all, demonstrate a strong team work ethic, proven professionalism and demonstrable integrity.
