Heart of Midlothian Football Club is a Premiership Scottish Football Club with a FIFA category 2 Academy. An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Heart’s Elite Football Academy to recruit several Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapists/Sports First Aiders to support the Academy medical department for Saturday match-day cover. The successful candidates will be responsible for the medical cover of age groups U11, U13 and U15. This is an excellent opportunity for either qualified chartered physiotherapists or students working towards their chartership to work in our Elite Football Academy and will be involved in the development of talented youth players. The successful candidates will also be part of the innovative Project Brave journey which will produce talented academy employees in Scotland to work with our youth players.
· Ideal candidate will provide match day physiotherapy cover with the assigned youth age group both home and away games as per the weekly rota.
· Responsible for the medical care and treatment of acute sports injuries with the assigned youth age group.
· Responsible for liaising with the Academy Head Physiotherapist, coaching staff and parents regarding injuries and appropriate management
· Attend meetings and training courses on a regular basis as directed to do so by senior members of staff.
Qualifications and experience: Qualified chartered physiotherapist or currently studying towards BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy with a sports first aid certificate (including use of defibrillator). Must have excellent communication and demonstrate the ability to part as part of a successful medical team. Taping and strapping certificate, previous experience of working with sports teams, MSK outpatient experience and interest in football is desirable. Ideal candidate must be able to travel to and from the Football Academy based at Heriot Watt University. As part of the recruitment process specific screening will be required such as Disclosure Scotland PVG check, previous employer references and relevant SFA associated forms under the Children’s wellbeing Directive.
