INTRODUCING THE HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN FC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
POSITION: Owner, CEO and Chairwoman.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Executive role, principally responsible for setting the strategy and putting in place a 3-5-year plan that will bring both financial stability and create opportunity for development within the football club.
BACKGROUND: The lifelong Hearts fan co-founded IT services company Newell & Budge in 1985, going on to buy out her partner in 2001. She sold Newell & Budge to French company Sopra Group in 2005 at which point the business she had started had over 1000 staff across six regional offices in the UK and New Delhi. That same year Ann was named the Entrepreneurial Exchange Entrepreneur of the Year. She stood down as CEO of the UK operation at the end of 2008. Concluded the Successful purchase of the club in May 2014.
PASTIMES: Travel and keeping the grandchildren entertained!
POSITION: Non-Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Non-Executive role, formerly Operations Director.
BACKGROUND: Ph. D in geophysics from Edinburgh University but entered the world of IT as a career. After 10 years in Birmingham, he returned to Edinburgh as Scottish director for the IT subsidiary of IMI plc. Joined Ann Budge in 1993 and was managing director of Newell & Budge and subsequently Sopra Group UK until retiring in 2010. That relaxing lifestyle ended with a bump when Ann asked Eric to join the off-field team!
PASTIMES: Sport – playing and watching. Plays any sport involving ‘bat and ball’… tennis, squash, racket ball, badminton, golf.
POSITION: Director of Football.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Executive role, principally responsible for setting the strategy to achieve success on the field and for the day-to-day running of the football side of the business, supported by his management team based at Riccarton.
BACKGROUND: Former Hearts star and Scotland international, whose playing career was cut short by injury. Began managerial career at Cowdenbeath and went on to successfully manage Hearts between 2000-2004. He has also been in charge of Leicester City, Raith Rovers and Dundee United and was Scotland manager between 2009-2012.
PASTIMES: Enjoys a game of golf now and again.
POSITION: Non-Executive Director
BACKGROUND: Donald is a partner in the London-based law firm CMS Cameron McKenna. He joined the Scottish law firm Dundas & Wilson in 1974 and has spent all of his career in Edinburgh with that firm, becoming a partner in CMS Cameron McKenna earlier this year when the two firms joined forces.
POSITION: Non-Executive Director
BACKGROUND: Kevin is a lifelong Hearts fan and corporate finance partner at accountancy firm Mazers. He has spent the last few years working as a financial advisor to the Foundation of Hearts.
POSITION: Foundation of Hearts Chairman
RESPONSIBILITIES: Stuart provided the link at Board level between Foundation of Hearts and the football club. He has an excellent relationship with members of the Exectuive Management team and represents the FOH and the club on match days. A close working relationship with Ann Budge and other Board members is very important in the run up to the change in ownership of the majority share holding.
BACKGROUND: Stuart is a senior tax partner at PwC LLP and at present runs PwC's UK tax compliance business from his Edinburgh base. He has been with PwC 22 years, 12 of which has been spent in Partnership. Prior to that Stuart was an Inspector with HMC&E.
OTHER INTERESTS: Stuart enjoys a game of golf, an occasional spot of fishing and travelling with his family.
