Ruben, who comes from the Spanish city of Santander, has also gained a fair bit of experience, having signed for Hearts in July 2007 from RS Gimnastica de Torrelavega after ending an impressive spell on loan to the Greek club Aris FC of Thessalonika.
Ruben helped Aris secure a UEFA Cup place and in addition, this cultured performer has appeared for Real Racing Club de Santander; Union Deportiva Lanzerote and Palencia CF. He was a stalwart as Hearts claimed third position last season and Ruben's presence has been missed since he suffered a knee injury at the end of January 2010.
