A skilful right-winger who played for Lithuania at Youth and U21 levels after starting with FK Nevezis Kedainai. In 2004, his attacking midfield play helped Nevezis to gain promotion to the top level (Lyga A) but despite contributing nine League goals in 2006, the club was relegated that year.
Marius was good for lower levels and was signed by FBK Kaunas in January 2007. He made 25 appearances as FBK won the Championship in 2007 and gained European experience. Marius also played in the Cup Final win over FK Vetra in May 2008. In August 2009, he was signed by Hearts on a six month loan from FBK.
