A strong and assertive, central defensive midfielder, who came through the club's own youth development system and signed a full professional contract in July 2006.

The former captain of Hearts' U19 team started to feature in the senior squad in 2008-09 and Jonathan made his competitive debut as a substitute against Celtic in May 2009.

That month, the Scottish U17 internationalist from Loanhead, also signed a new three-year contract. Jonathan is looking for a major breakthrough this season, after making only one substitute appearance last term, against Hamilton Academical in September 2009.
