A strong and bustling striker who was born in Varese, Italy but brought up in Austria where he started his career in the local leagues, with SV Mattighofen, SV Spittal and SV Lendorf. David went back to SV Spittal and then in July 2006 his goals earned a three-year deal with Red Bull Salzburg where he played in the "B" team. He hoped to progress to the Bundesliga squad and in 2008-09, to gain experience, the hard-running attacker was loaned to the third level club, WAC/St Andra. In July 2009, after his Salzburg contract expired, David earned a two-year deal with Hearts after promising performances on the pre-season tour.
