Craig Thomson

DOB: 17 April 1991.

Debut: Dinamo Zagreb (h), 27 Aug, 2009.

A right-back or wing-back, Craig made a particularly impressive debut in August 2009 against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League.

His energy and use of the ball was outstanding and Craig held his place in the team where he also proved to be something of a dead ball specialist.

Unfortunately, the U19 internationalist was injured against Celtic in December 2009 and required knee surgery. Craig came through the Academy after first joining Hearts at the age of ten from his local side, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic.

He was always a top prospect and this was recognised by the other SPL coaches when Craig was selected for the Clydesdale Bank Rising Star award in April 2009. At that time, Hearts' U19 Player of the Year signed a new three-year contract.

Craig's ability to score with free-kicks was underlined by two fine goals in the pre-season game at Millwall and this will be a threat to opponents in 2010-11.
