Craig admitted it was an easy decision to make after sitting down with Paulo and Director of Football John Murray.

He said: "I spoke to the manager and John Murray. They didn't have to sell the club to me. I know how big a club this is and the potential here.

"It's a good platform for me to play and hopefully get some goals and help the team.

"Speaking to the manager, I really liked what he had to say. The decision was simple to be honest."

The Scotland international began his professional career at Rangers as a youth player, but revealed before then he was training with the Gorgie club.

Craig continued: "I used to train with Hearts when I was around 12 or 13. We trained through in Scotstoun in Glasgow, so I've known John since then.

"I was also involved with the Hearts system before I signed for Rangers. You could say becoming a Hearts player has been a long time coming!"
