Defender Darren Barr should be fit for Saturday's visit of St Mirren in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League despite suffering a nasty head injury in the William Hill Scottish Cup win over Auchinleck Talbot.

The Hearts stopper was stretchered off in the second half of the Tynecastle tie after a sickening clash of heads.

Following lengthy treatment on the park, the 26-year-old required eight stitches in a nasty gash.

The good news for the former Falkirk star is that he didn't suffer any other serious damage and is hopeful of making the meeting of the Paisley Buddies.

"It was a nasty injury," said coach Gary Locke. "He required a bit of treatment but he should be fine for the weekend."

Fellow-defender Danny Grainger was replaced at half-time by Jordan Morton after aggravating a groin injury and is regarded as a doubt for Saturday.

Meanwhile, fans are reminded to move quickly to guarantee cut-price tickets for the St Mirren game. Supporters can secure £3 off their ticket if bought before 11.59pm on Friday night.
