Hearts has teamed up with Match of the Day magazine to help promote their nationwide 'Footy is Free' campaign.

The campaign aims to kick start live football viewing by getting kids out of the house and through the turnstiles at a variety of football stadiums including Tynecastle.

The UK's best-selling youth football title, backed by the FA, has linked up with a host of Scottish Premier League, Championship and Premier League clubs to offer FREE family tickets to a variety of games including a Hearts home fixture.

With attendance at football matches on the decline, Match of the Day magazine is urging more clubs to back their 'Family Footie is Free' campaign to boost live football attendance. Clubs that have signed up so far include: Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, St Mirren and Hearts, and Match of the Day magazine are urging more clubs to get involved.

The best-selling youth title has identified ten key reasons for families to go and watch a live game. They include quality bonding time with parents, experiencing the unique atmosphere and learning the club's football songs.

Gary Lineker, Match of the Day presenter and England legend is an advocate of the campaign and says: "There is nothing like the buzz of live football. I'll never forget my first match watching Leicester play Manchester United and the excitement I still feel watching live games home and away. I think it's a great Match of the Day campaign to encourage youngsters off the sofa and into grounds. Once you've got the bug you will never lose it."

Scott Field, head of media relations at the FA has also said: "The FA is backing the Match of the Day magazine's campaign to get more kids to experience the magic of live football and it's be great to see as many clubs as possible give families the chance to see live football."
