Hearts star Mehdi Taouil was full of happiness and cheer after Saturday's terrific win over Motherwell in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Moroccan magician was in terrific form as his dazzling footwork bamboozled the Motherwell defence for 90 minutes, and Mehdi was delighted with the performance: "I am full of joy right now. The result was terrific, that's the best way to have a good Christmas! There are no easy games, the way we approached the game was good, our desire and character was excellent. Motherwell have had good results but we were very focused and gave them a hard time."

The eye-catching style of play from the Jambos at the moment is extremely pleasing for the home supporters, and Mehdi is thrilled to be a part of it, saying: "I'm enjoying it a lot. I can play right or left or in the middle, and the team puts it such an effort that it's great to play with them and the results make it better."

On a personal note, Mehdi also walked away with the sponsor's man of the match award and he was happy to share the award with his teammates, adding: "It's pleasing to win the award and it's even better because we won the game. It's easier to play with good players.2

"The last few weeks have been difficult for us and on the pitch we're really enjoying our football right now. We're only six points behind Motherwell now and hopefully we can close them down and beat them to Europe."
