The Molineux manager has been tracking the 23-year-old's development at Tynecastle for some time and is delighted to have landed his man, Eggert officially reporting for duty with the Midlands club on January 1.

"We've been watching Eggert for a long time and he has impressed our chief scout Dave (Bowman) and our scouts up there," said McCarthy.

"He's a versatile midfield player who can play in a number of positions comfortably and will be a good addition to the squad.

"He's a good player now but he's also one of those at an age where he has got more improvement in him and should get better and better.

"And playing alongside better players in a better league will only help him in that respect."

Eggert could be in line for a dream debut for his new club, with Wolves at home to Chelsea on January 2.
