Striker Gordon Smith has joined Hamilton on a month-long loan deal.

The young front man has been a regular in Paulo Sergio's squad this season but has managed just a handful of appearances from the bench.

His only start came in the Europa League return against Tottenham Hotspur, when he impressed at White Hart Lane, and he has taken the opportunity to move to Billy Reid's Accies in a bid to gain more competitive action in the first division in the coming weeks.

"This is a good chance for me to get playing more games," said Gordon today. "I am going for a month and hopefully I can do well at Hamilton while at the same time help myself improve match sharpness.

"I want to show the manager here I still have a part to play at Tynecastle and hopefully I can come back and be involved more with the first team."

Another promising young star moving out on a short-term loan is defender Kevin McHattie, who has joined Paul Hartley's Alloa Athletic until mid-January.
