Winger Suso Santana has had an operation to clear up a troublesome knee injury, Jim Jefferies confirmed today.

The Manager will be without the Spaniard for this weekend's match against Kilmarnock, where a win would edge the Jambos closer to clinching third place.

He said: "Wee Suso was meant to go for an operation a couple of weeks ago, but he's battled on as he thought he could make it to the end of the season.

"The more he's tried it, the more damage he's caused so he went in for an operation yesterday.

"Credit to the wee man, he's battled away and I thought he played well in the games he was available for but there's just too much damage for him to carry on."

Andrew Driver may have to go under the knife as well, although is fit enough to be considered for the trip to Ayrshire.

Jim added: "Andrew Driver is in a similar situation but we'll see how we get on on Saturday.

"It might be that he can go in next week and get done as well but he's in the squad.

"His is not as bad, but we're trying to get the strongest squad out for as long as possible. Then we can see what happens and take steps to try and give them a longer recovery for next season."
